Sports Talk

Ok, so here is a rundown of what is going on in my little world of sports.  Don't get any ideas (Timbo, Ryan &  Moonz) and go traipsing around sticking Yankees/Mets/Giants logos in my comments section either.

Marlins-Well we went into a little slump there and managed to lose the last 4 games until last night when Dontrelle came to the rescue.  6-3 win over the Mets, Dontrelle pitched 8 1/3 innings and belted 2 homeruns and earned an RBI in the sixth.  Whoever said that NL pitchers couldn't hit is out of their mind (CHY!!)  The chances are looking real slim for the Marlins to make to the playoffs but I must say that I am happy where we are right now because I didn't think they would make it this far.  Finish off the Mets tonight, hopefully with a win.  Rookie pitcher Anibel Sanchez against Veteran pitcher Pedro Martinez.  Than we go on to play Philly who are tied with the Dodgers in the Wild Card race.  Two series with Philly over the next 10 games and a series against the Reds.  Cabrera is out with a shoulder injury, so we will not have his hitting ability, but we need to WIN, WIN, WIN!!

Cowboys-Thank god we won on Sunday, I really could not see the Cowboys going 0-2 that would have been heart breaking.  Alomost as heart breaking watching Terrell Owens drop the totally catchable passes that Drew Bledsoe shot down the field to him.  Terrell had surgery on what was a broken 4th metacarpal.  Parcells seems to be perfectly fine with it.  Put a plate in there call it good.  The only good thing about the injury was the timing.  The cowboys have a bye this week and next week we play a struggling Tennesee Titans.  I have a pretty good feeling that T.O will be back for our game against the Eagles.

Look at the NFC East Standings:

Cowboys ~ 1-1

Giants ~ 1-1

Eagles ~ 1-1

Redskins ~ 0-2

important game tonight for both, we need Pedro to get his confidence back, you just need wins...and NL pitchers do suck at hitting, not as bad as AL, but they do just so you know, all pitchers do, just NL get practice and live game situations.

Woo hoo, we won 5-2, god let's pray that we continue to win.

yeah was a good game, we got some confidence back in Pedro too

that's some BS about Girardi though man, look what he did for that team

I saw that coming, there was a lot of rift in the clubhouse between him and Loria.  He is barely on speaking terms with the GM, it's all a lot of BULLSHIT for sure.  He took a team with 22 rookies and a $15MM salary and brought them within 4 games of the wild card with 9 games left.  Seems like a pretty good track record to me.

yeah, that was word for word from ESPN =P

oh well guess the Cubs will have a hell of a manager next year

Pretty much, forgot to write C & P for ya, I figured you knew.  Was going to just post the link but just thought I would take the good part out.

Sorry, I'm gonna butt in for a sec to give big ups to Papi who hit #51 & 52 last night. Our season is as good as over, but he's still MVP all the way.

You really think there is that much intrinsic value in beating a club record?  You guys are a game and half away from third for crying out loud.  Yeah, he can hit a ball really far, but there's a lot more to winning than that.

got to agree with Cavutto, Papi in no way should be MVP

It's nothing personal either...he was robbed the last 2 years honestly.  This year, however, is a different story.  Joe Mauer or Jeter.  Leaning towards Mauer, depending on how well they finish the season.
