Day 2~ We are in the gates, the parking attendants directed us to park to the left and we decided FUCK THAT the cops searching area was within 100 ft, and I wasn't having it. We ventured the 2 RV's up front weaving and bobbing through people and found RV hill. That was our spot for the weekend. It was a sweet spot too, not too far from Centeroo which is the center entrance to the concert area, and not far from Shakedown. We got settled in and headed to shakedown and towards Centeroo. Brandon and I went to go find Jeffrey, he is one of the originals from last year. He drove down from New York with a friends and they decided to chill over in the RV area with us. Which was cool because now I have my festival buddy!
2:00-3:15 pm~ Ben Folds~ Show was pretty good, I only knew a couple of songs by him. I listened for a little while and than ventured over to see Mike Gordon.
3:00-4:30 pm~Mike Gordon~For some reason I totally spaced that G-Love was playing and I kinda would have rathered seen him, but Mike Gordon blew the doors off. He was amazing.
4:30-5:15 pm~ Walked around sweating my tits off, drinking as much beer I could get my hands on and people watched...ooh the hippies!
5:30-7:30 pm~ Oysterhead-(Les Claypool, Stewart Copeland, Trey Anistasio)-Jammed out hardcore. Les was walking around with a pig mask just going nuts on the guitar. I danced so hard and had a great time, by this point I am drunk exhausted and hot. Lots of fun.
Tom Petty was the headliner for Friday night, Jeffrey, Jack and myself decided to stay back at the RV and sit on the roof listen to the music and drink some of the 200+ beers we had on site. The sound was great, we heard Stevie Nicks come out, they started off with Stop Dragging My Heart Around. It was a really good time, we laughed, drank and smoked a lot!
Jeffrey, Jack and I hit the late night sessions, My Morning Jacket was first it was too slow, I wasn't in that mood, than we went to Common, Blackalicious and Lyrics Born. George Clinton came out with Lyrics Born and played some funk. Back to the RV for a few hours rest I guess I woke up about 7 am when I realized I was getting choked out by the exhaust from the RV. Some how I passed out on a tarp between the two RV's, the weather was perfect and no bugs so it worked out.
We'll talk some more later, I am off for the weekend.
